Missing Ozark girl found in Charlotte with mother
OZARK, Ala. – An 11-year-old Ozark girl who was reported kidnapped from a bus stop was found in North Carolina with her mother Wednesday, authorities said.
Ozark Police Chief Tony Spivey said Montavya Tiherra Robinson was found unharmed in Charlotte, N.C., with her mother, Alnisa Jones, who was charged with interference with custody.
Investigators were en route to Charlotte Wednesday to question the mother, Spivey said. The girl was expected to be returned to her grandmother, who has custody of her, by Thursday.
The state had issued a missing child alert Monday for the girl, after Montavya's grandmother reported her missing Friday afternoon when she didn't come home from school.
The grandmother told police she believed her daughter took Montavya.
Spivey said officers had been planning to charge Jones with check forgery, which may have provoked her to flee.
