Good Samaritans Thwart Alleged Kidnapping Plan

(CBS4) CHICOPEE Two children are safe, thanks to the quick thinking of Francisco Rodriquez, 16 -- a bell ringer for the Salvation Army at the Wal-Mart in Chicopee.

Two days ago, Mark Klimek, 32, of Holyoke was taken into custody and charged with two counts of kidnapping, two counts of assault and battery after he allegedly tried to abduct two children. Police say the suspect tried to snatch a ten-month-old baby girl unsuccessfully, and then attempted to grab a four-year-old boy.

Rodriquez, patrons and security were able to hold Klimek down until police arrived on the scene.
Klimek was sent to a hospital for mental evaluation. He will appear in court sometime in January.
