Christopher stayed home sick from school. He was wearing a long acid-washed blue denim trench coat, large black cotton sweatshirt, blue Bugle Boy jeans with pockets on the knees, and brown leather boat shoes. He had a black leather wallet and wore a black and white zebra striped swatch wristwatch. A note stating he would be back around 6:00 PM was found. His vehicle was discovered two days later, abandoned near Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
