Mother arrested after abducted daughter found in Pensacola

A 6-year-old girl who was abducted from California more than 18 months
ago was found at a Pensacola motel, sheriff’s officials said Tuesday.

Hope Katelyn Brazil is set to be reunited with her family in California.
Her biological mother, Shelli Shileen Brazil, is charged with child
abduction from California and is in Escambia County Jail awaiting
extradition, said Sgt. Mike Ward, Escambia County Sheriff’s Office
spokesman.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reported that Hope
was abducted by Brazil, her non-custodial parent, in July 2004.

Missing persons investigator Jimmy James responded to an anonymous tip
and went to the Motel 6 on North Davis Highway on Monday. James found
Brazil, the girl, and a 12-year-old boy for whom Brazil still retains
custody, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

The Department of Children & Families took custody of both children.
