School Crossing Guard Thwarts Attempted Kidnapping

Aug. 24 (ABC7) — A crossing guard at an elementary school on the
Peninsula apparently stopped a man Tuesday afternoon from kidnapping a
little girl.
Police say it happened at about 3:30 as the nine-year old walked home
from Parkside School in San Mateo.

They say the suspect started talking to the girl and tried to lure her
into his car. The crossing guard noticed this and started walking toward
them. That’s when the man drove off.

He was driving a late 1990′s Saturn station wagon, forest green in color.

The suspect is described as a white male between 45-and 55-years old.
He’s about six feet tall with medium build and grey hair. He was wearing
a blue striped dress shirt and slacks.

If you have any information about this case, call the San Mateo police.
