Planned Giving

Retirement has enough dimensions, as well as sufficient details and decisions to make it complex to sort out. We hope to eliminate those complexities for you, and we encourage you to make a call to our advisor on these matters. There is no obligation to exploring the possibilities. The progression into retirement years of many persons, who have long formed the backbone of support for America’s charities, can be a significant part of the answer. You can realize lower interest rates, which will dramatically affect tax deduction amounts. Investment market fluctuations make certain gift plans more attractive as well; and lower capital gains tax rates are attractive to some donors. Changes in capital gains holding periods may expand benefits of lower rates; and in 1998 IRS flip trust regulations changed. We can help you sort this out. In an era when many organizations offer “plans,” we can carefully help you design to keep the “gift” element in focus.

Please consider Operation Lookout when planning your estate. Donating part or all of your estate to charity not only benefits the charity, but could reduce the amount of estate taxes your heirs have to pay on your estate. Consult an attorney who specializes in wills, probate law and estate planning. He or she will advise you on the different ways to make your donation. Example: you could name a charity as the beneficiary on your retirement benefits, set up a charitable trust or make an outright bequest.
